HIKING & MOUNTAIN BIKING

Loreto has a wide array of hiking and mountain bike trails among its canyons, arroyos, hills, desert and striking Cerro Tabor Palmilla peaks of the Sierra de la Giganta. Closest to the marina, just on the other side of Highway 1, is Tabor Canyon, good for any hiking distance you prefer. For trail information and mountain bike rentals, speak with Guest Services. Pilón Lolita Mountain

If you’re up for a challenge and want to immerse yourself in the beauty of Loreto—consider hiking the Pilón Lolita (Sharks-tooth Peak). You’ll see incredible views of the Sea of Cortez, Coronado Island, and Loreto, as well as the stunning Sierra la Giganta and Cerro Giganta.

How far can you climb? The Pilón Lolita’s summit is ~3,330 ft. Here is other key information to keep in mind as you plan your hike:

  • Trailhead elevation 1450 ft
  • Elevation gain: 1880 ft
  • Difficulty: Class 3+: scrambling and route finding required
  • Duration: 6+ hours
